Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Delta Kappa hosts a variety of events for our national philanthropy, which is Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. Our Vice President of Philanthropy and Service works with her event chairs and, most importantly, the chapter to help make these events possible.

12-Hour Pancake Breakfast
Each spring, Delta Kappa invites the LSU and Baton Rouge community/alumni to its annual 12-Hour Pancake Breakfast at the Zeta Tau Alpha house. For a night of pancakes, music, socializing, and games. We have Karaoke and trivia for basic entertainment and just believe it doesn't stop there! To make this event twice as special, we creatively honor breast cancer survivors into our theme each year. In 2024, Delta Kappa raised $25,428 for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, which partners with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Saints "A Crucial Catch" Game
Since ZTA is partnered with the NFL, Delta Kappa members join together with fellow ZTAs, in both collegiate and alumnae chapters, to pass out pink ribbons and information cards before and during the New Orleans Saints' "A Crucial Catch" game in October. Each year, tens of thousands of Saints fans receive critical breast cancer information and learn more about the disease because of ZTA's efforts.

Kick for a Cure
In the fall, Delta Kappa hosts a kickball tournament! Kick for a Cure is a bracket style tournament between the 16 fraternities on LSU's campus. Zetas participate as coaches for the fraternity teams as well as referees throughout the event. Every year the winner gets a special prize for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed fraternity! All proceeds go to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation!

Think Pink Week
Think Pink Week revolves around spreading awareness and educating the community on breast cancer. It is a week-long event leading to a Pink-Out Football game in Tiger Stadium. All Zetas wear pink to the game and we encourage everyone to as well! The week consists of multiple activities to help our Philanthropy, each year we tend to switch it up! The range is from bingo to pickleball to pieing a zeta, there is so much to do during this week that offers a chance to make a difference. As Delta Kappa Zeta's, we are proud of our Philanthropy and this week alone allows us to show the community just that!

Big Man On Campus
Big Man on Campus is another week long event in the fall that features numerous social media and Crowd Change contests, a group dance, and a male pageant-style competition. Each Big Man Contestant is chosen by each Fraternity, Sorority, or Campus Organization to represent them in this competition. Our 1st place winner gets the honor of being the Big Man On Campus!! 2nd and 3rd place winners have the privilege of being Mr. Philanthropy or Mr. Popularity, these results come from the social media and the Crowd Change contest! All winners receive a prize differing each year! Everything fundraised goes directly to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation to support scholarships, educational programming, leadership development and our fight against breast cancer; which includes our partnerships with the NFL, American cancer Society, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Other Service
Delta Kappa doesn't just participate in service for breast cancer awareness and education. Every year our service varies, ensuring we volunteer our time to a number of different causes and always keeping it interesting! Zetas frequently volunteer at the Companion Animal Alliance Shelter, a local soup kitchen, the Baton Rouge Food Bank, writing letters and sending care packages all over the country, volunteering on LSU's campus, and helping the community in any way, shape or form. We are always open to new ideas for service opportunities, and we love any chance to be involved in the Baton Rouge community.
